Youth Expo 21: Design a jersey competition

As part of the ongoing Youth Expo GAA Handball are running a fantastic competition in conjunction with Walk in My Shoes and O’Neills icreate to design a new Juvenile Handball jersey. The winning jersey will be created and sold on the GAA Handball online shop in an exciting new initiative.

GAA Handball are delighted to partner with Walk in My Shoes (WIMS) the flagship awareness-raising and education campaign of St Patrick’s Mental Health Services (SPMHS) for this fantastic competition. As part of the Expo Dublin Ladies Footballer and WIMS ambassador Nicole Owens will speak about Mental Health as part of our Mindful Monday’s series in a bid to create more awareness about Mental Health in young people and to tackle the mental health stigma in this age group.

Walk in My Shoes work to promote positive mental health, to tackle mental health stigma and to change how people, particularly young people, think about mental health. The newly designed jersey will contain the Walk in My Shoes logo to help raise awareness for mental health among our Juvenile members. Alongside this competition there will be a range of supports and information released throughout the month in conjunction with WIMS.

National Manager John Kelly commented on the partnership:

“We are delighted to partner with Walk in My Shoes to raise awareness of the great work that they are doing in changing how young people think about mental health. A key part of the Youth Expo for us is to promote positive mental health among our younger members and to educate our young members about the supports available to them and I am confident that this collaboration will help to do that."

WIMS Project Manager Amanda McArdle, was delighted to join forces with GAA Handball for this very worthwhile campaign.

“Walk in My Shoes are proud to be involved in this fantastic initiative which offers young people an exciting opportunity to take an active part in promoting positive mental health, while also raising awareness about the mental health resources that are available to them. This initiative speaks volumes about how community and sports bodies like GAA Handball are working hard to nurture the wellbeing of their young members, and we are delighted to be part of this initiative."
