August Bank Holiday is, in the handball world, synonymous with the McGee Handball Tournament and Social weekend in Newport. Now in its 37th year, it follows the tried and tested format in place since its inception.
Games will start on Saturday July 30th at various venues and the finals will be held on Sunday July 31st. The usual social festivities will take place over the weekend – seafood night on Friday night (registration night) in the Grainne Uaile and a B-B-Q with steak, wine and beer on Saturday night at the alley. The presentation of prizes to winners of all divisions will take place at six pm on Sunday evening upstairs at the Bridge Inn. Afterwards, a buffet meal will be available.
This year we will continue the “McGee Classic” which is a singles division with a difference for those veterans of McGee tournaments who do not want to play doubles but still want to play in the tournament.
