All roads lead to the Breacach Handball Club in Co Tyrone this Saturday for the culmination of the All-Ireland Wallball Championships in all adult and juvenile grades.
The Breacach club, which recently hosted its own Big Ball Wallball Slam as well as the Ulster Championships, will play host to a huge number of players, supporters, parents and coaches for what should be an outstanding weekend of action, which begins on Saturday morning at 10am.
The blue riband Open Singles grades see Cork, Tyrone, London, Louth, Tipperary, Roscommon and Westmeath all represented in the male and female grades. In the Ladies semi-finals, Roscommon dual star Fiona Tully (below), who defeated Mayo’s Cuileann Bourke in the Connacht final, meets Mullingar’s Aoife McCarthy while the other semi-final sees Senior Softball Singles champ Catriona Casey of Cork take on local favourite Eilise McCrory.
In the Men’s semi-finals, Colm Grace, who won the Connacht Championship representing London, takes on Louth’s Ben Devlin, who recently won his own local tournament at the O’Raghalliaghs club in Louth.
In the other semi-final, number one ranked Conor McElduff from the host club will meet Tipperary’s James Prentice, who excels in all codes.
Waterford’s Anthony Fitzgerald, winner of the Dunlop Shield for the All-Ireland Softball Junior Singles earlier this year, takes on Monaghan young gun Callum Gallagher (recent 19&U Nationals finalist) in the Junior Singles semi-final, with Kells, Co Kilkenny man Dan Breen in action against Moycullen, Co Galway player Jack McNeela on the other side of the draw.
Clare’s Leah Minogue meets Tyrone’s Caitlin Conway in the Ladies Junior Singles semi-final, with the winner playing Carragh Kennedy of Roscommon.
The Minor grades see Wexford’s Jodie Keeling and Armagh’s Fiachra Ó Dhúill seeking to defend the titles they won last year. Keeling faces Galway’s talented Ava Sweeney; Ó Dhúill faces Cian Dunning of Cork, with Kilkenny and Galway going head to head in the other semi as Conor Doyle clashes with Conor Hession.
