All roads lead to Wexford and Carlow next weekend for the 2024 60x30 Softball Nationals.
With the 4-Wall season not long finished, the ‘big alley’ is now in full swing, with this event representing the first major tournament of the season.
The Model county has arguably the most active local softball scene in the country and has again stepped up to host most grades in this important event, which caters to males and females across juvenile, adult, Open and Masters grades.
The Men’s Open, which takes place at Castlebridge and St Mary’s, has attracted a 19-strong field, which is headed by reigning Senior Doubles champion Gary McConnell from Meath, with Kilkenny left-hander Ciaran Neary in as the number two seed.
Action serves off at 10am with the round of 32 matches and continues all day on Saturday through to the final, which is scheduled for Sunday at 3pm in Castlebridge.
There are nine players entered in the Ladies Open, with Kildare’s Mollie Dagg heading the field and Mayo’s Cuileann Bourke seeded second.
The Men’s A Doubles, in Ballymitty, will be contested by five teams, with players from the host county, Waterford, Cork and Kilkenny while Wexford, Tipperary, Laois, Kildare, Wicklow, Cork and Monaghan are all represented in the Men's B Doubles, which is being staged in Templeudigan.
Wexford, Wicklow, Dublin, Tipperary, Roscommon, Meath and Kilkenny provide the players for the Men's C Doubles, hosted by Ballyanne and New Ross.
The Master Doubles will take place in Garryhill, Co Carlow.
