The QF's of the 2016 MyClubShop.ie All-Ireland Senior 60x30 Singles took place this weekend, and some cracking contests were thrown up.
In the Men's, the two dominant figures in Senior Softball for the last 6+ years, Eoin Kennedy & Robbie McCarthy, both recorded solid wins over Meath's Gary McConnell & Kerry's Dominic Lynch respectively. After a tough opener against McConnell (21-15), Kennedy powered to a 21-9 victory, whilst McCarthy oozed class throughout his 21-4, 21-6 win over Lynch.
Kennedy will face Brian Carroll in next Saturday's SF after Carroll survived a tiebreak against Gavin Buggy, winning 21-8, 9-21, 21-12. McCarthy will face Limerick's Seamus O'Carroll after the Cappagh man came through the match of the weekend against Carl Browne, prevailing 21-20, 21-17.
In the Ladies, Catriona Casey received a bye, and will now face Kilkenny's Ciara Mahon, who defeated Casey's doubles partner Aishling O'Keeffe 21-16, 21-12. Last years finalist Martina McMahon was dominant in seeing over Laois' Niamh Dunne 21-10, 21-0, whilst former champion Ashley Prendiville came through a tough encounter with Mayo's Pauline Gallagher 21-12, 21-18.
All four SF's will take place in a massive quadruple bill in Croke Park next Saturday, with times TBC.
