The John West Féile na nGael Handball 2023 event is fast approaching with the on-line entry system for this the main Juvenile Club competition of the year just launched. The competitions are being hosted by Connacht clubs this year on the weekend of the 29th of April.
The John West Féile na nGael Handball Event is part of the All-Ireland Féile Club festival for all GAA Clubs aimed at players (both boys and girls), this year like national Féile it’s for players between the ages of Under 15 and 11 years old on the 1st of January. Like previous years, the handball event has it’s very own standalone weekend with the hurling, camogie and football Féiles on different weekends. This proved a great success in previous years, with record numbers entering.
The entry deadline is midnight on Sunday April 16th, all teams/clubs are asked to enter at their earliest convenience so that the tournament organisers can gauge participation numbers.
This year’s event in Connacht covers our 4-Wall and 1-Wall codes with a separate Softball Féile being organised for the end of May in Connacht/North Leinster venues.
The 1-Wall competition is confined to clubs with One Wall facilities only. Last year we had 22 teams that took part, and we hope this year’s event will be even bigger with even more of our standalone 1-Wall clubs taking part.
Please Note: Each club can only enter a maximum of three teams per competition.
The Féile event will be run off on Saturday April 29th with the start time on the Saturday morning at around 10am. Final venues will be determined once final entry numbers are known, but it is hoped to have fixtures released by Friday 21st.
All teams are also requested to send in the following to competition.handball@gaa.ie before Monday April 17th to ensure inclusion in the online programme:
• Team Photo (1 team photo per club even if club has 3 or more teams) - in jpeg format 1MB to 2MB in size.
• Brief Club History – 120 words max.
Entry Fee: €40 per Team
Each player will have the opportunity to purchase a 2023 Féile t-shirt.
If a club is entering more than one team, then they should call their strongest team the club name with 1 after it, with 2nd or 3rd team – club name 2 etc.
Finally, if clubs are having problems entering two or three teams on-line at the same time, the best solution is to enter 1 team at a time.
