As part of last weekend John West Féile na nGael Handball event our President Mr Joe Masterson also launched our inaugural John West Softball Féile which takes place in Wexford venues on Sunday 25th August.
This is a fabulous promotion for our Softball code and we expect many of our club teams from last weekend and other Softball clubs to support this new initiative with its main goal of increasing Juvenile participation in Softball and especially in the Softball Juvenile Championship later this year and in future years.
The Entry Deadline is midnight Friday 12th July, all teams/clubs are asked to enter at their earliest convenience so that the tournament organisers can gauge participation numbers.
The Féile Softball is for Girls and Boys teams (no mixed teams allowed) and the event will be run off on the Sunday 25th August with the start time at around 10am. Venues will be determined once final entry numbers are known, but it is hoped to have fixtures released by Monday 22nd July, five weeks in advance of the event.
All teams are also requested to send in the following to feile.handball@gaa.ie before Friday 19th July to ensure publication in the programme.
- Team Photo (1 team photo per team plus 1 club photo per club even if a club has 2/3 teams) - in jpeg format 1MB to 2MB in size.
- Brief Club History – 120 words max.
Entry Fee: €40 per Team (including 1 player in the skills event)
As part of the entry fee each player will get a 2019 Féile Softball T-shirt, for most U14 based on previous years’ experience a small t-shirt will be the most appropriate size.
If a club is entering more than 1 team in the Boys or Girls sections, then they should call their strongest team the club name with 1 after it etc etc.
Finally, if clubs are having problems entering 2 teams on-line at the same time, the best solution is to enter 1 team at a time.
