Men’s 40x20 Singles - Last 32 Preview

The 2017 O'Neill's All-Ireland 40x20 Singles Championship is here, with a full round of Last 32 matches scheduled for this Saturday in 14 venues nationwide.

One match will take place tonight (Thursday 9th Feb) in Moycullen, as 2015 Intermediate champion Colin Crehan (Clare) takes on current Connacht Intermediate champion Ian McLoughlin (Mayo).

The main widely expected to retain his All-Ireland crown in March, Robbie McCarthy opens his campaign in Bawn against Tyrone's Shane O'Neill, after O'Neill came through a tiebreak with Cork's David Walsh on Wednesday evening 9-21, 21-6, 21-6. Armagh's Charly Shanks is aiming to get back to the final for a 3rd consecutive year, and he also faces a Tyrone man in Ryan Mullan.

Third seed Martin Mulkerrins will hope to continue his fine form of late when taking on Wicklow's Jerome Willoughby in a double header in Multyfarnham that also features Niall O'Connor v Rikki O'Gara.

Broadford, Limerick also sees a tasty double header, with 2014 finalist Diarmuid Nash tasked with a tricky opener v Kerry's Dominic Lynch in arguably the tie of the round. That proceeds Brendan Fleming v Ger Coonan at 11am.
