In today's Myclubshop.ie 60x30 Ladies Senior Singles Final Limerick's Martina McMahon shocked the number one seed and favourite Catriona Casey (Cork) winning an enthralling battle over three games 21-10, 14-21, 21-10 to secure her maiden Senior title. In what was one of the best ever Ladies Finals both ladies produced some excellent shots and rallies to entertain what was the largest crowd ever seen at a Ladies Senior Final.
The game was a fantastic advertisement for Ladies Handball and both girls deserve tremendous credit for playing their part. McMahon started like a train and opened up a 15-5 lead early on. Despite a brief rally from Casey she took the first 21-10 with some sublime long range shooting to lay down a marker of her intent. Casey like the true champion she is hit back in the second and forced a third winning 21-14. The third game was tight early on as the players were tied at 7-7 before McMahon seized the initiative and opened up a 17-9 lead. From there, there was no turning back as she closed out the game 21-10 to capture her first Ladies Senior 60x30 title.
