Mary Tully RIP

GAA Handball are incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of Mary Tully (Roscommon).

Mary was the current Club Secretary for the proud St Coman’s Handball Club in Roscommon town, but for anyone who knew Mary knows her role in both Club & County Handball extended to much more than that, going above and beyond to ensure jobs got done and run smoothly, whatever the requirements.

She was an extraordinary administrator at all levels of GAA Handball and promoted youth participation at the Club for decades. Not only has Mary dedicated her time to help St. Coman’s, she has also been delegate to the Roscommon County Board over the years and was a member of the Juvenile Provincial Council. No matter what committee Mary was involved with, she put her heart and soul into it.

From a national perspective Mary was known across the country, a regular travelling to major tournaments with her daughters, and volunteering at tournaments. Even just a few months back Mary was a key contact for assisting the running of the 2022 Irish Wallball Nationals in Roscommon. Her selfless commitment, volunteerism and endless energy has greatly enriched our sport and Club and will no doubt be an important part of Mary's legacy.

GAA Handball would like to extend its deepest condolences to Mary's husband Michael, daughters and Club members Siobhan, Aoife and Fiona, sons Fergal, Micheál and Niall, and to the extended families.
