A quality double header of Ladies Senior Singles action takes place in Nenagh HC, Tipperary tomorrow (Wednesday 2nd) with the two remaining QF encounters set for a 7.30pm start.
Fresh from her US Collegiate win on Sunday in Minnesota, Galway's Ciana Ni Churraoin will be straight back into action against Kerry's talented Ashley Prendiville. The Ballymacelligot clubwoman may be better known for her doubles exploits, with numerous senior All-Ireland's to her name, but she is also a fine singles player as well. In the previous round she accounted for Leinster Champion Aoife McCarthy (Westmeath) 21-17, 21-6 and will look to build on this against Ni Churraoin.
Ni Churraoin will start as slight favourite and will be in high in confidence given her recent win. Last time out she was in fine form as she prevailed in two games 21-13, 21-11 against Down's Lorraine Havern, however it remains to be seen if her travel commitments affects her play.
In the second game, Irish #3 Martina McMahon enters as favourite against Kilkenny's Ciara Mahon, with Mahon also only home from Minnesota where she made the final before falling to Ni Churraoin. After a tense opener in the previous round against Aishling O'Keeffe, Mahon eventually came through to record a solid 21-17, 21-6 win, and she will have to be on her game again tomorrow to trouble McMahon. The Broadford woman has certainly the full repertoire to defeat anyone in the game on her day, with her serving and long range kill shots extremely effective.
Lying in wait for the two winners is Aisling Reilly & Catriona Casey in the SF's, with these games taking place alongside the Men's SF's this Saturday in Kingscourt from 2pm.
