Three Last 16 matches take place this Saturday in St Brigid's (Dublin) and Tulla (Clare) as the 2017 O'Neills Ladies 40x20 Senior Singles Championships gets underway.
In St Brigid's, Laois woman Niamh Dunne takes on Down's Lorraine Havern at 3pm. Lorraine, a World 23&U Finalist in 2012, has played limited 40x20 in recent years and faces a very gutsy opponent in Dunne, who showed she has game at the recent She's Ace Weekend, defeating Eilise McCrory for a 7th place finish. A tough game to call, with a match v Catriona Casey lying await for the winner.
A double header in Tulla sees Pauline Gallagher (Mayo) returning from an injury layoff to face current Doubles champion Aishling O'Keeffe (Cork) at 2pm, as both ladies look to secrue a QF berth v Ciana Ni Churraoin (Galway).
Following that sees two very talented players face off as Kerry's experienced star Ashley Prendiville takes on former Minor champion Lauren Riordan (Roscommon), with a QF showdown with recent She's Ace Champion Martina McMahon the victors prize.
