Munster have won the #ShesAce Girls Interprovincial Team of Ten on aggregate scores after an exciting day play in Kingscourt yesterday.
The format sees 5 doubles pairings (U13, U14, U15, U16, U17) compete in 1 x 21 ace game, with points scored on an aggregate basis. With Ulster not fielding a team this year, the remaining three provinces played in a round robin format.
The standard of girl’s handball has improved dramatically in the last 5-10 year, and this was evident on the day with some excellent performances and contests.
Leinster got the better of Connacht in the opening match with a narrow 2 ace win that went down to the last few points. In the second match Munster had a good win over Connacht after the 5 games which resulted in Munster wining 93-59. In the deciding match Leinster just pipped Munster 77-65 but with the aggregate scores format meant Munster won by 8 aces.
Uachtarán Joe Masterson presented the medals and congratulated all the girls on their wonderful performances. Joe also thanked the coaches, parents and a special word of thanks to the Kingscourt club for hosting and hospitality on the day.
