GAA Handball Funding Success

GAA Handball recently received fantastic news on several funding streams which will be delivered upon in 2022.

A combined effort from GAA Handballs full time staff over the last few months to produce detailed applications saw the below funding awarded to the association, totalling almost €160k.

1) Covid-19 Resilience Schemes - €100k

A reinvigoration of GAA Handball post pandemic. A wide ranging programme targeting areas including: Volunteering, Coaching, Media/PRO, Tournament Grants & Facility Refurbishment.

2) Dormant Accounts - Sport Inclusion - €40k

Developing Handball facilities and playing opportunities for disadvantaged areas via the 1-Wall code of the game, exposing Handball as a recreational activity for the masses.

3) Dormant Accounts - IT Accessibility - €4k

To develop and adapt our resources in line with a new inclusion strategy GAA Handball are currently undertaking with CARA (

4) Special Projects - Online Coaching Resources - €5k

To develop online coaching content for the rapidly growing 1-Wall code of Handball, to the aid of the continuous stream of new Schools & GAA Clubs taking up the game.

5) Sport Ireland Core Investment - +€10k annual increase

An increase in our annual Core Investment Grant from Sport Ireland for the running costs of GAA Handball.


GAA Handball would like to like to acknowledge Sport Ireland for their role in delivering these funding streams, and thank their support staff for their assistance throughout the application process.
