Carroll wins 4th US Nationals title

Across the Atlantic on Sunday evening saw the top two players on the planet do battle in an eagerly awaited US Nationals Final in Nashville, Tennessee.

Paul Brady saw off Mexican hot shot Daniel Cordova to book his place in the final, as he continued his bid to be the outright record holder of this title. The Mullahoran man is currently tied with Mexican great Naty Alvarado Snr on 11 titles each.

On the other SF, current World Champion Killian Carroll was forced to a tiebreak by Galway's Martin Mulkerrins, eventually winning 11-5.

In the Final, Brady came from behind to take the opener 21-15, but succumbed to a 21-5 second game loss. In the tiebreak, the momentum balanced itself out again with both players going toe to toe with sensational attacking play. However with the scores tied at 4-4, in a tiebreaker scheduled to 11 points, Brady very unfortunately went over on his ankle during play, forcing an injury retirement.

It was not the way either player wanted the game to end, however both men as expected put on a great showing for Handball fans worldwide, and continue to be great ambassadors for the sport.
