The 2016 MyClubShop.ie All-Ireland 60x30 Senior SIngles Championship kicks off tonight with three preliminary round matches taking place ahead of Saturday's 1st Round proper.
Mullingar will host a double header as Tyrone duo Ryan Mullan & Barry Devlin face stiff opposition in Kilkenny's Brian Manogue & Roscommon's Rikki O'Gara respectively. Manogue will play Mullan first up at 8pm, with the winner playing into Dublin's Eoin Kennedy in the next round. This will be followed by the O'Gara v Devlin encounter, with the winner advancing to face Westmeath's Robbie McCarthy on Saturday.
In Lahorna the tie of the round is Offaly's David Hope against Limerick's Seamus O'Carroll at 8pm. Hope had a solid run had the 60x30 Nationals, where despite falling to a tiebreak defeat in the first round against Gavin Buggy, he responded with wins over Brian Manogue, Ryan Mullan & Paudi Quish en route to winning the Plate. O'Carroll is making his return to the court this season after an absence of several years. The Cappagh man is a prodigious talent and an excellent athlete, and made the Munster SF last month in his maiden event back, falling only to eventual winner Dominic Lynch. Tipperary's Ger Coonan awaits the winner of this encounter.
