60x30 Juvenile Finals - Preview

This weekend the 60x30 Juvenile Championship Finals are down for decision across three Ulster venues with 40 players from all corners of the isle competing for 13 All-Ireland titles, with 13 counties represented.

There have been many fantastic encounters already en route to their All-Ireland finals Day, and spectators can expect a number of exciting tussles from the talent on show.

The Blue Ribbon Boys U14 & U16 Singles Finals on paper look like cracking contests. In the BU14’s Monaghan’s Eoghan McGinnity takes on Wexford’s Josh Kavanagh this game is hard to call. Kavanagh looked most impressive in seeing off Cork’s Darragh Ducey in two straight games, whilst McGinnity showed his fighting qualities to come from a game down to see off Leitrim’s Cormac Scollan in a tense tiebreak. In the U16 Singles Loughmacrory’s Antoin Fox will be hoping to go one better than the 40x20 Singles Final back in March as he bids to take home the 60x30 U16 title against Kerry’s Daire Keane after he had a very good tie-break win against Eoin Brennan of Kilkenny in his semi-final.

The Girls U14 & U16 Singles throws up two more intriguing tussles between some very gifted young players. Loughmacory’s Mairead Fox will be hoping to add to her U14 40x20 title earlier in the year but is up against another gifted handballer in Roisin O’Keeffe of Kilkenny, this is certain to be a tight match. In the U16 final Galway’s Niamh Hefferenan will be hoping to add to her many titles but she’s up against last year’s 60x30 U15 Singles winner Dearbhail O’Keeffe of Kilkenny, this is certain to be a close match. Both the Fox and O’Keeffe families will be hoping to celebrate on the double on Sunday evening, time will tell!!!

GAA Handball would like to wish all the competitors the best of luck, and congratulate all the players and their coaches on an already very successful campaign.
