60x30 Juvenile Finals 2017- Preview

This weekend the 60x30 Juvenile Championship Finals are down for decision across three Leinster venues with 40 players from all corners of the isle competing for 14 All-Ireland titles, with 12 counties represented.

There have been many fantastic encounters already en route to their All-Ireland finals day, and spectators can expect a number of exciting tussles from the talent on show.

The Blue Ribbon Boys U14 and U16 Single Finals on paper, look like cracking contests. Galmoy’s Billy Drennan will be hoping to add to his U14 40x20 title earlier in the year but is up against another gifted handballer in Rory Grace of Tipperary, this is certain to be a tight match. The U16 Final is between Kilkenny’s Jack Holden and Cork’s Darragh Ducey, this is likely to go to a tie-break with very little between both players.

The Girls U14 and U16 Singles throws up two more intriguing tussles between some very astute young handballers. Kilkenny’s and Clogh’s Amy Brennan will fancy her chance in the U14 Singles Final where she is up against Tyrone rising star Cloda Nic Cion Midhe from the Carrickmore club. In the U16 final Kildare’s Mollie Dagg will be hoping to add to her U16 60x30 Doubles title from last year when she face last year’s 60x30 U14 Singles winner Mairead Fox Tyrone, this will also be a tight final and could also go to a third game.

GAA Handball would like to wish all the competitors the best of luck, and congratulate all the players and their coaches on an already very successful campaign.
