60x30 Adult Doubles Winners - Weekend Roundup

A host of venues played host to the various grades of the 60x30 Adult Doubles finals at the weekend as the titles for 2018 were decided. In total 15 counties contested finals with 11 taking home gold medals. Tipperary was the form county of the weekend taking home four titles while Kilkenny and Wexford were next in line with three each followed by Galway and Kildare on two titles apiece while Cavan, Limerick, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly and Sligo all shared one title each.

Tipperary’s successes came in the Ladies Junior Doubles were Sinead Meagher and Laura Shinners overcame Dublin’s Meadhbh Ní Dhálaigh and Lisa McKenna over two games. The game of the weekend had to be the Masters A Doubles Final with Tipperary’s Paul Mullins and Eddie Farrell coming back from losing the first 17-21 against Wexford’s Gavin Buggy and John Roche, they took the second 21-17 but trailed 12-19 in the third before they rallied and took the tie-break 21-19 to the delight of the Tipperary supporters. Their other wins came in the SMAD and RMD.

The U21 Doubles was won by Galway’s Diarmuid Mulkerrins and Cian Ó Conghaille as they accounted for Kilkenny’s Dylan Caulfield and Padraig Cooney. Cavan’s Paul Fitzpatrick and Cormac McMahon went one better than last year as they took the Junior Doubles title with victory over Tipperary’s John Ferncombe and Sean Maher.

In the Over 35's A final Offaly’s David Hope and Noel Murphy had a good two game triumph over Mayo’s Joe McCann and Joe Dowling.

GAA Handball would like to thank all the host clubs, referees and officials who enabled a large programme of finals to take place around the country. Full list of winners are listed below.
