This year's 40x20 Interclub Championships takes place in central venues this Saturday 3rd December as Cullohill, Leixlip, Ballymore Eustace and Curraghboy play host to the top handball club teams as they battle for All Ireland success.
The Open competition which is being played in Cullohill, Laois is very hard to call, but last year’s winners Kells of Kilkenny will fancy their chances of winning this title for a third time. The Kells team is a very strong unit but they have a tough semi-final clash with Munster champions Mallow of Cork before they can even think about the final. The second semi-final is equally as hard to call with the experience St. Coman’s team from Roscommon up against a Breacach team from Tyrone that has won the Intermediate grade for the past two years. The final is fixed for 5pm and by Saturday night we will know which of these very strong club teams will be crowned the 2016 40x20 Open club team of the year, let the battle begin.
In the Junior competition Moycullen (Galway) face St. Galls (Antrim) in the first semi-final in Leixlip at 11am while Tinryland (Carlow) plays Cashel (Tipperary) in the second semi-final in Ballymore Eustace also at 11am. The final is down for decision at 3pm in Leixlip.
Finally in the Junior B competition the action kicks off in Curraghboy with Williamstown (Galway) taking on Breacach (Tyrone) in the first semi-final at 11am following by St. Brigid’s (Dublin) versus Boherbue (Cork) at 2pm. The final is due to start at 5pm also in Curraghboy.
A great days Handball is in store at these venues as the 2016 Handball season comes to an end, please show your support for all your club teams that are in action this Saturday 3rd December.
