This year's 40x20 Inter-club Championships takes place in central venues this Saturday 24th November as Cullohill, Leixlip, St. Brigid’s and Curraghboy play host to the top handball club teams of 2018 as they battle for All Ireland success.
The Open competition which is being played in Cullohill, Laois is very hard to call this year with the three teams all hoping to win their illusive first 40x20 Open Club title. The Glenbeigh team is a very strong unit and with the added advantage of them receiving a bye in the semi-final makes their chance of winning a lot easier. But the teams in the other half of the draw namely Coolboy (Wicklow) and Breacach (Tyrone) will have their own views on this. Breacach will hope to go one better than the last two years when they were just pipped in the final on both occasions by Kells Kilkenny & Kells Meath last year. Coolboy have also a very strong team and if they play to their strengths, they too will fancy their chance. The final is fixed for 2pm and by Saturday night we will know which of these three very strong club teams will be crowned the 2018 40x20 Open club team of the year - let the battle begin.
In the Junior competition Templeudigan (Wexford) face St. Galls (Antrim) in the first semi-final in St. Brigid’s at 12noon with Kilworth (Cork) against Moycullen (Galway) in Leixlip at 1pm. The final is down for decision at 4pm in Leixlip.
Finally, in the Junior B competition the action kicks off in Curraghboy at 11am with Windgap (Kilkenny) taking on Kingscourt (Cavan) in the first semi-final following by Hospital (Limerick) versus Newport (Mayo) at 1.30pm. The final is due to start at 4pm in Curraghboy.
A great days Handball is in store at these venues as the 2018 GAA Handball season comes to an end, please show your support for all your club teams that are in action this Saturday 24th November.
