3-Wall Doubles at Tullyvin

The latest summer series event in Cavan saw 16 players line up in Tullyvin for a 3-wall doubles tournament.

This was the third event in Cavan; a total of 35 players participated and all three events were closely contested and blessed with fine weather.

This time around, the big story of the day was the return of forget juvenile stars Emmett Boylan and Brandon Boylan. Both were successful underage players at County and provincial level but had been focusing on football in recent years, winning Senior Championship medals with Crosserlough last season.

They paired up to great effect to win the B doubles, seeing off Niall McMahon and Conor McMahon in the decider, with Brandon's solid play and Emmett's left corner kills key.

Colum Brady and Owen O'Reilly had a big win over the eventual runners up in the group while Paddy O'Reilly and Vincent Mulvey were competitive.

Paul Fitzpatrick and 16-year-old Niall Magee won the A Doubles. Magee, who qualified for the U15D 40x20 All-Ireland final pre-Covid, was in fantastic form on the day, showcasing his array of skills.

They beat Cormac McMahon and Adam McKenna (who is through to the U16D final) in the decider.

Also impressing on the day were Michael Clerkin/Stephen Shanahan (Bawn) and Cavan senior footballer Stephen Smith and former All-Ireland minor doubles champ Dwayne Leggett, who has made a welcome return to the sport.
