2019 Softball Nationals Fixtures

The 2019 GAA Handball Softball Nationals will take place next Saturday the 27th July in Wexford venues. This event has attracted good numbers again this year with 170 players involved. The full fixtures list and schedule for each venue are now released - see below.

The event, which was first launched in 2011 and played in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017 has always been a Doubles event, but the last two year the Men's and Ladies Open was changed to a Singles competition with ranking points on offer and it’s the same format this year.

The famous Castlebridge club will play host to a top-class series of matches in the Men’s Open grade on the Saturday with one half of the quarter finals being played in St. Mary’s. The Ladies Open event is on also in St. Mary’s, with the Juvenile Boys grades being played in Taghmon while the Girls events are down for decision in Coolgraney. Other courts being used over the weekend are Templeudighan, Kilmyshall and Ballymitty.

On the Saturday evening in Castlebridge at 7pm the Ladies Open Final is down for decision with the day finishing off with the Men’s Open Final.

Softball National Rules and Information...

  • All Cup matches in the Softball Irish Nationals will comprise 2 x 15 ace game & tie-break to 11 if required, including finals unless otherwise stated.
  • All Plate matches in the Softball Irish Nationals will comprise 1 x 21 ace game, including finals.
  • Standard rules of Softball will apply for all matches unless otherwise stated.
  • The 60x30 Challenger 3 Ball will be used for Girls 13, 15, 17 & Under and Boys 13 & Under Grades.
  • The Adult 60x30 Softball will be used for all other grades.
  • The schedule has been drawn up with every player entering the event guaranteed at least two matches.
  • All players to be at venue at least 30 minutes before schedule start time of their fixture.
