GAA Handball are delighted with the response from our clubs with 26 teams participating in our New Softball John West Féile na nGael festival. This event takes place on Sunday 25th August in Wexford venues and the fixtures for this competition are now released – see below.
This is a follow-on event from our very successful that was played on Saturday 15th June in Cork and Limerick which attracted Seventy-Eight 4-Wall and 1-Wall teams. Our Softball Féile normally takes place on the same weekend but the entries over the past ten years have dropped off to two or three entries per year. This was mainly because the Softball playing year does not begin to late July so this year GAA Handball in agreement with the National Féile committee agreed to run the Softball Féile in the Softball season!!!
This has made a massive difference and our clubs have really got behind this new initiative. In the Boys event we have 18 teams, CCCC have graded these teams to the best of their ability over 3 Divisions, while the Girls event has attracted 8 teams playing in 1 Division with a drop down final for the Division 2 shield.
