Wallball divisions a huge success in Féile

The Wallball grades at the John West Féile nan Gael have grown steadily over the years and attracted a healthy entry again this year. All of the wallball grades were hosted by the Kilglass club in Co Roscommon.

Boys Div 1

In Boys Division 1, there was a first-ever Division 1 Féile success for Antrim as the Naomh Éanna club took the gold.

Naomh Éanna topped their group, seeing off Clough Ballacolla (Laois) who had won the title in 2018, 2019 and 2022 to set up the final against Clann Eireann (Armagh).

Niall Lemon and Zac O’Connell were first up and won 21-15. Shea Bell, who also won the Skills, and Darragh McIlroy won their match 15-11.

This was a high-quality final between two clubs who have made great strides in recent years.

Final: Naomh Éanna dft Clann Éireann 2-0

Boys Div 2

Clough/Ballacolla claimed the Boys Division 2 title. The Skills award was won by Fergal Brennan. The team was CJ Brennan, Fergal Brennan, Canice Meade, Dara Breslin and Christopher McEvoy.

Boys Div 3

The Boys Division 3 grade was produced one of the most closely contested finals of the whole event, with Abbeylara pipping Clann Éireann after extra time.

Also in the mix in this grade were Mayobridge and Fahy’s Cross.

The winning team was Thomas Finn, Marc Galligan, Seanan Neilon, Ryan Lee and Adam Finn.

Boys Div 4

In the Division 4 final, Fahy’s Cross from Offaly saw off Down boys Mayobridge. The winning side was Senan Kerrigan, Jack Curley, Fionn Kilmurray, Ryan MacNamee and Michael Hosey.

Final: Fahy's Cross dft Mayobridge 2-0

Girls Div 1

Clough/Ballacolla took top honours in the Girls Division 2 competition when they saw off Abbeylara from Longford. The Laois girls won the final 2-0.

Elizabeth Pearson, from the winning club, also claimed the Skills award.

Girls Div 2

Abbeylara were victorious in this grade. The Abbeylara team was Eimer Galligan, Holly O’Shea, Sophie O’Connor, Lauryn Monaghan and Mia O’Connor.
