The first ever Irish Wall-Ball Championships take place this weekend in the Mattie McDonagh Centre, Mount Talbot, Roscommon with 11 titles on the line.
In the Mens Open, Limerick's Paudi Quish looks to be favourite to take the honours, but the Hospital clubman faces a tricky SF against Wexford's Leinster winner Daniel Kavanagh, who is also the current 17&U Irish Nationals winner from July. Mayo's Niall Joyce, the 19&U winner from the Nationals, will take on Tyrone's Sean Kerr in the second SF, with Kerr acting as a sub for two time Nationals champion, and county colleague Conor McElduff.
In the Ladies Open, Cork's Catriona Casey will look to add to her 40x20 All-Ireland, but will have to overcome 4 time Wall-Ball Nationals champion Lorraine Havern to do so. That is of course if both stars can overcome Laois' Niamh Dunne & Roscommon teenager Fiona Tully in the SF's.
Galway's Diarmuid Mulkerrins will face Louth's Ben Devlin in a Boys 17&U Final that will be tough to call, whilst Armagh's Megan McCann be be slight favourite to take the Girls 17&U crown. In the Girls 15&U, Galway's Niamh Heffernan will be looking to add to her 15&U National crown won at Breaffy, whilst the Boys 15&U is tricky to call with Jason O'Tuathail (Galway) possibly edging the favourites tag.
