Cork's Brendan Fleming was the star of the weekend, sensationally knocking out former 3 time champion Robbie McCarthy 21-19, 21-15.
The win prevented McCarthy's bid to make seven consecutive finals, and means Fleming faces Galway's Martin Mulkerrins in Saturday's SF in Kingscourt. On the same bill will be Charly Shanks v Diarmuid Nash, after Nash defeated his doubles partner Colin Crehan 21-16, 21-8 in Sunday's QF in Clooney.
Also this weekend there were dominant wins for Aisling Reilly & Martina McMahon in the Ladies QF's. Reilly ousted Pauline Gallagher (Mayo) 21-13, 21-6, with McMahon defeating Aishling O'Keeffe 21-4, 21-0. The pair will now face off in an exciting SF this coming Saturday, with the second SF being between reigning champion Catriona Casey (Cork) and Ciara Mahon (Kilkenny).
