Michael Finnegan named Team Ireland Coach

GAA Handball can tonight announce that Cavan's Michael Finnegan has been named Team Ireland Coach for the 2018 World Championships.

Finnegan can boast a wealth of experience at the top level which includes:

  • 11 x All-Ireland Senior Doubles Titles
  • 2 x World Senior Doubles Titles
  • 1 x World Senior Singles SF

GAA Handball are confident that Michael is well placed to be an invaluable asset to all members of Team Ireland in their bid for glory at August's Championships in Minnesota.

On receiving word of his appointment, Finnegan stated;

"I would like to thank GAA Handball for giving me this opportunity. It is a great honour for me to lead Ireland's top players to Minnesota, and one I am relishing. I am already looking forward to working and helping everyone on Team Ireland, and want to wish the best of luck to all our Juniors aiming to make the team at this weekends Junior Nationals."

Galway's Martin Mulkerrins & Limerick's Martina McMahon have already been confirmed as Team Captains following their All-Ireland Senior SIngles wins last month. This weekend will see 6 Juvenile players confirm their spots on the team via success at the Irish Junior Nationals.
