There were no major upsets in today’s M Donnelly All-Ireland 60x30 Men’s Senior Singles quarter-finals, writes Paul Fitzpatrick.
The double-header in Crinkle went along expected lines, with champion Robbie McCarthy and former multi-decorated winner Eoin Kennedy both progressing in straight games against Martin Mulkerrins and Ger Coonan respectively.
The Dubliner ran out a 21-12, 21-5 winner over Coonan while McCarthy saw off Galway’s Mulkerrins on a 21-17, 21-3 scoreline.
Meanwhile, in Talbot’s Inch, Limerick’s Paudi Quish delivered an excellent performance to see off Offaly’s David Hope. Quish, serving well, pulled away in game one to lead 16-9 and eventually closed out the match on a 21-12, 21-7 scoreline to advance to his first 60x30 Senior Singles semi-final.
The trio will be joined in the semis by Meath's Gary McConnell, who saw off Gavin Buggy in a close game at Ballymore Eustace last night.
