McCarthy still #1, Shanks up to #2

After last weekends Gaffney Memorial, the Irish Rankings have been updated with some significant changes.

Robbie McCarthy (Westmeath) is still #1 and has strengthened his lead by opening up a 13pt lead over the new #2 Charly Shanks (Armagh). The Clann Eireann clubman saw his ranking fall significantly in 2014 due to his sabbatical in New York, but some impressive showings in the last nine months has seen his storm up the rankings. A final appearance in the 2015 All-Irelands, victory at Octobers Golden Gloves, and a SF showing last weekend at the Gaffney Memorial sees him hold a slender one point lead of Killian Carroll.

Diarmaid Nash's absence from the last two ranking events, coupled with an amendment to the scoring system, which now sees only results within the last two years being eligible, sees the Tuamgraney man drop to #4. Galway's Martin Mulkerrin's SF placing last weekend results in him overtaking Brian Carroll into #5.

Next chance for ranking points will be the provincial championships, which take place over the next two weeks. See full ranking list below.
