Yesterday we were down in the sunny south east as Kilmore NS, Wexford became the latest school to embrace GAA Handball's One-Wall for School Initiative by building two indoor mini walls to coincide with the multiple outdoor free wall space the school has to play Handball.
Kilmore is one of the largest rural national schools in Ireland, with 330+ pupils, with recent GAA National Games Development Chairman Micheal Martin the principal. At yesterday's open day, 200 pupils took part in introductory lessons across 7 sessions, lead by National Development Officer Darragh Daly, and assisted by members of the neighbouring Bridgetown HC.
Already there appears to be signs of substantial development with a strong school-club link developed between the Handball club and school, with the club members coming in once a week to deliver lunchtime sessions to the eager students.
If your school would like to get involved, please contact Darragh Daly on development.handball@gaa.ie
