Holden is Minor Singles champion

Kilkenny’s Jack Holden is the new MyClupShop.ie All-Ireland 60x30 Minor Singles champion following an impressive victory over Kerry’s Daire Keane in this afternoon’s final.

Holden, who is still underage for this grade next year, delivered an assured performance to run out a 21-12, 21-8 winner over the Kingdom starlet.

The Kilfane man, who was a straight games winner over Cavan’s Conor Owens in the semi-final, had the edge in power and he utilised it at key times.

Early on, the scores were level on several occasions but Holden eventually put some daylight between them as he eased to a 21-12 win in the opener.

In game two, Keane started well and opened an early 2-0 lead but Holden soon rediscovered his groove and raced into a 14-2 advantage.

Keane rallied well and began to go for broke and a succession of eyecatching kills brought him closer but Holden steadied the ship with some smart passing shots and closed out the game on a 21-12 scoreline.
