Gaeltacht Scholarship Opportunity in Inis Mor

Liathróid Láimhe agus Labhairt na Gaeilge ar feadh scoilbhliana sa Ghaeltacht

A Very Special Opportunity for Improving One’s Irish

Coláiste Naomh Éinne, a G.R.E.T.B. Post-Primary school, is in Inis Mór, the largest of the three Aran Islands at the mouth of Galway Bay. It is a Gaeltacht school and all tuition is through the medium of Irish. Our students participate in a variety of sports and there is a thriving local handball club which hosts a yearly One-Wall tournament.

The school, with the assistance of the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht affairs, offers a scholarship (Scéim na bhFoghlaimeoirí Gaeilge) scheme where young people may enrol for an academic year and experience island life while learning through Irish and thereby increasing their fluency in the language. Many young people have found their year on Inis Mór to be a particularly enriching experience and have encouraged their younger siblings to follow suit.

If this appeals to you for the school year 2017-2018; grab the opportunity now and email the Príomhoide micheal.oculain@gretb.ie or visit www.gairmscoileinne.com and download our brochure.

There is of course a large Handballing community on Inis Mor, with the club also hosting an excellent annual One-Wall event every May. So this may be an interesting option for some Handballers.
