GAA Handball 60x30 Inter-club Championships 2018

This year's 60x30 Inter-club Championships takes place in Leinster venues this weekend with Crinkle being the venue chosen for the premier 60x30 club competition. The Open competition has a familiar field with it, with last year’s finalists Kells (Meath) reigning champions and Hospital (Limerick) back in the final. The action gets under way at 12noon this Saturday 23rd June at the Offaly venue.

The Open final is a repeat of last year’s final with Kells ELEVEN time’s winners facing Hospital who have only won this title once back in 2002. In fact Kells this year are going for their SEVENTH title in as many years.

Kells can call on the vast experience of doubles pairing Tom Sheridan and Brian Carroll as well as Gary McConnell, Robert Fox and Michael Sheridan for the clash while Hospital have also an array of very experience 60x30 handballers namely Paul Hedderman, Paudi Quish, J.P. O’Connor, Eamon Davern and Mike O’Toole. Hospital were due to play Williamstown (Galway) in a semi-final but Williamstown had to withdraw.

Will the hot favourites from the Royal County or the men from the South bring the title home on Saturday afternoon? Only time will tell for this titanic tussle of these two club heavyweights in the 60x30 game.

In the Junior competition Kilfane (Kilkenny) are through to the final as they received a bye, while Fenagh (Leitrim) faces Broadford (Limerick) in the second semi-final in Mullingar at 11am. The final is down for decision at 2pm in the Westmeath venue. A fantastic battle is in store at this midlands venue.

Finally in the Junior B competition Williamstown (Galway) are through to the final as Friary/Abbeyside (Waterford) had to withdraw, while Tinryland (Carlow) plays Kingscourt (Cavan) in the second semi-final in Clogh at 12noon on Saturday. The final is down for decision at 2pm in the Killkenny venue.

A great day of 60x30 Handball is in store at these three central venues as the Softball season starts in earnest with the first finals of the year. It promises to be a cracking Inter-club series, so show your support for all your club teams that are in action this weekend.
