GAA Handball 2016 All Star Awards

On Saturday 4th February 2016 the Bridgehouse hotel, Tullamore hosted our annual All – Star event. The ceremony saw the top players of 2016 awarded with the highest accolade that our sport has to offer.

The night began with National Manager John Kelly reflecting on what a great year 2016 has been for handball, thanking all levels of players, clubs and of course, club volunteers. Also acknowledging, that without whom, handball would not continue to grow as it has been doing.

In what would be the last presentation ceremony by our former president Willie Roche, he too opened the night with his own speech, echoing the successes voiced previously by John. Willie then presented the awards to the following recipients;

Club person of the year: Alan O’Neill (Wexford)

Club of the year: Clogh (Kilkenny)

Hall of fame Munster: Pat Mc Garry (Limerick)

Hall of fame Leinster: Packie Ryan (Dublin)

Hall of fame Ulster: Seamus Mc Cabe (Monaghan)

Hall of fame Connacht: Marcus Henry (Sligo)

Juvenile female player of the year: Katie Mc Carthy (Limerick)

Juvenile male player of the year: Sean Kerr (Tyrone)

Female player of the year: Catriona Casey (Cork)

Male player of the year: Robbie Mc Carthy (Westmeath)

To finish the evening, John Kelly thanked all of those in attendance and paid homage to those who we have lost throughout the year, ending with a short video showing the highlights of 2016.
