Fancy yourself as a Handball Tutor?

Do you think you have what it takes to become a National Tutor for GAA Handball?

Well if you do then get in touch with National Development Officer Darragh Daly at darragh.daly.handball@gaa.ie

What is a National Tutor?

Our Tutors are a small specialised group of people who have undertaken the required training with Sport Ireland to allow them to deliver Official Certified Foundation & Level 1 Coaching Courses for GAA Handball.

What Training is Involved?

Five full weekends training at the University of Limerick on the below dates, followed by shadowing and up skilling by a current GAA Handball Tutor.

  • Oct 6th & 7th
  • Nov 3rd & 4th
  • Dec 1st & 2nd
  • Jan 5th & 6th
  • Feb 2nd & 3rd

Why become a Tutor?

To help grow the game of Handball. To help improve Coach Education of Coaches in Clubs nationwide. To get to visit Handball Clubs all over the country and help them make the next step in their Coaching standards.

Personal development.....the course will help you in so many other aspects of life and is not aimed specifically at Handball. You will learn how to improve your delivery and presentation methods, and will get to learn and meet key contacts from a wide variety of sports.

Am I suitable?

One thing key to remember here is that Tutoring is not the same thing as Coaching! As a Tutor you are tasked with Teaches the Coaches on best practices, delivery methods, assessing and reviewing performance. Do not for one second feel you must be an elite coach or player to become a Tutor.

What you will need however is the confidence to lead a theory and practical course in fornt of groups ranging between 15-25 coaches.

Current Tutors

Some of our current tutors include Fiona Shannon, Ryan Daly, Damien Martin, Nevan McCartin, Darragh Daly, John O'Donoghue & Tadgh Carroll. Whilst the likes of Tony Healy, Richard Willoughby & Joe McCann have also dedicated their time to Tutoring in the recent past. If you know any of this crew, feel free to talk to them and they will fill you in on the benefits they got out of this process.
