Referee's

Welcome to our Referee Zone, the central resource for upcoming courses, resources and opportunities to get involved in your referee journey.

GAA Handball provide a selection of Referee Course options to assist the development of referees from grassroot to international level, with courses led by National Tutors. Below is a breakdown of options of courses and how to progress through the levels;

  • Bronze Level – Local Level Refereeing Panel

  • Silver Level – Provincial Level Refereeing Panel 

    • Attending the Refereeing Clinic hosted by GAA Handball
    • Must be a minimum of six months after the online exam (bronze level)

  • Gold Level –  National Level Refereeing Panel

    • Referee consistently at Local & Provincial level
    • Promotion by Provincial Councils & Referees Committee
    • Pass online quiz (90%), 1 hour

  • Platinum Level – International Refereeing Panel

    • Referee consistently at a high level (Provincial/National)
    • Selection by the Referees Committee & Ard Comhairle
    • Pass online quiz (100%), 1 hour
