3rd level handball is continuing to grow across Further Education & Highter Education colleges. Whether you are new to handball, or a current player there is something to get involved in while you complete your studies in your chosen 3rd level college.
ICHA:
Comhairle Ard-Oideachais Liathróid Láimhe, The Irish Collegiate Handball Association (ICHA) is the national governing body for third-level handball.
The ICHA is led by a national committee of volunteers, who work alongside GAA Handball to provide access to Handball at 3rd Level Institutions.
Get involved:
We would advise any interested players on reaching out to the College's GAA or Sports Development Officer for guidance on the status of the handball club (active, previously active, no club). We would encourage players to reach out on how to get involved or setting up a new club
Also, follow the ICHA social media channels to stay up to date on upcoming tournaments and entry details to the intervarsity events.
Opportunities:
There may be funding support available via scholarships. Check out the university/college website for more information. Support ranges for new students and returning students as they compete on the national or international stage.
Current 3rd Level Handball Facilities:
Note: College GAA Handball Clubs can still be established without Handball facilities on site. Local clubs are typically more than happy to accommodate usage of their court for the growth of our game. In fact there are numerous samples of active College GAA Handball Clubs that exist and thrive without Handball facilities on site of their 3rd Level Campus.
