Busy weekend of action in oneills.com Senior Championships

While the All-Ireland juvenile finals will draw a large crowd to Croke Park this weekend, there is plenty of top-class action around the country in the adult grades as well as the oneills.com Senior Singles championship serves off.

Star attraction tomorrow will be five-time world champion Paul Brady, who has made a sensational return to competitive action. Having not entered the All-Ireland Senior Singles since 2013 (when he won it for a 10th time), the Cavanman is back. Brady will face familiar foe Michael Gregan from Wicklow in the round of 32; the Coolboy man showed superb form in the recent Senior Doubles and a good game is expected in Monavea, Co Laois.

The winner of that match will take on Kilkenny's Peter Funchion on Monday in the round of 16.

At St Coman's HC in Roscommon, Mayo's Niall Joyce takes on Sligo's Cormac Finn for the right to play champion Robbie McCarthy on Monday.

Elsewhere, Tipperary's former U21 champion Rory Grace will meet experienced Tyrone man Barry Devlin.

In the oneills.com Ladies Senior Singles round of 16 in Cashel, the decorated Catriona Casey plays Wexford's outstanding minor of recent seasons Jodie Keeling.

Cork's Aishling O'Keeffe is up against Limerick lefty Martina McMahon, also at the Tipperary venue.

Among the other ties are the meeting of two exceptional young talents in Megan McCann and Mollie Dagg. Inis Mor woman Aisling Mullen will play Tyrone citeog Eilise McCrory while Fiona Tully, one of the big guns in the draw, meets talented youngster Amy Brennan.
