Monday saw the big guns Paul Brady (4 time World Champion) & Robbie McCarthy (Team Ireland Captain) open their accounts in impressive style.
Brady looked at half pace en route to a comfortable 216, 21-3 win over Minneapolis' Ryan Pesch, whilst McCarthy showed his ruthless streak when putting on an exhibition of serving to defeat Canadian Jason John's 21-0, 21-2.
Ireland are looking strong in the Mens Open grade, but the three big American names in the draw; Sean Lenning, Emmet Peixoto & Luis Moreno all looked impressive and will provide a major threat to any Irish challenge. Tuesday sees the event whittled down to the Last 16, whilst the Ladies Open also kicks off with the Round of 16.
It is getting to the business end of the Championships as all competitors vie for a spot at Friday's Finals Day. The juvenile Team Ireland squad will also see some action on Tuesday with several second round matches taking place.
