Templeudigan HC Reaping Rewards

Random good news story today as the Templeudigan HC in Wexford are starting to see immediate returns on a collective effort from Club members to reinvigorate the Club's Juvenile sector.

Club Chairman Michéal O'Neill is delighted with the success of the venture;

"We are overwhelmed at the response from the local community which has far exceeded our most optimistic expectations. Its a small catchment area here in Templeudigan but it seems that almost every family with young children have now decided to give Handball a go. We are indebted to GAA Handball National Development Officer Darragh Daly who came down and delivered a brilliant Foundation Level Coaching Course which really inspired us to give 100% to the project. From that night onward the committee mobilised and through the use of social media as well as local publications etc we got the word out and since then it has really taken off".

"We began by organising a Handball Introduction Night when we met with parents and children to explain what we had in mind and this was followed up a week later by a registration night when all who signed up were given a free set of eye-guards and a handball. We got 30 new members on that first night and since then it has increased to around 40".

"Although we do have a very proud history of achievement here in the club, our juvenile section had become very dormant in recent times and members had begun to despair about the future".

He concluded by saying "I want to thank Darragh Daly for helping to kickstart the process and the committee members for the enthusiasm they have shown towards the training sessions since we started. Of course its early days but its great to see such activity around the ball alley once again".
