St Ciarans win Year 8 Ulster Schools

By Shane McCann, Active Clubs Co-ordinator, Ulster GAA

The Year 8/9 boys Provincial One Wall finals took place today at Holy Trinity Cookstown. Holy Trinity, St Carans Ballygawley, Beech Hill College Monaghan and Red High Downpatrick were in attendance after qualifying earlier in the year via their respective county blitz.

The games were competitive throughout the day with all teams picking up points. Beech Hill College of Monaghan and St Ciarans Tyrone met in the final. After two games both teams had one point each, a sudden death play off up to 11 Aces was held with St Ciarans coming from 9-4 down to win 11-10.

Many Thanks to all teams who have competed throughout the year and all schools who provided facilities and welcomed refreshments. The season concludes next Friday with 19 year 8/9 girls teams competing for the provincial title at St Josephs College Coalisland.
