Portmarnock win Schools Blitz

Friday saw 60 boys descend on St Brigids HC, Dublin for a very successful and surprisingly high quality Schools One-Wall Blitz, especially given the vast majority of the competitors in attendance have only ever played Handball in their schools, and not with Handball Clubs.

After a hectic day of group games and knock out rounds, St Mary's Secondary (Drogheda) edged Scoil Cathriona (Glasnevin) 5-4 in a SF tiebreak, with Portmarnock CS ousting Colaiste na hInse (Bettystown) in the second SF. In the final, we could not have asked for a more dramatic finish as Portmarnock won out by a single ace on aggregate scoring after both doubles matches ended 8-11, 11-9.

Thanks to all the teachers for their continued commitment to developing Handball in the schools, with interest really starting to grow substantially with schools in the region.
