
The Christmas period saw yet another highly successful and talent laden Liscarroll Juvenile Open. See below for roundup of the four grades on offer.
Girls U13
In the first SF between two Clare players Chloe Philpott v Ailbhe Rodgers, it was Philpott who booked her place in the U13 final. Both girls gave great displays of handball on the day.
The second SF saw Roisin O'Keeffe v Noelle Dowling, again both girls being from the same county, this time Kilkenny, it was Roisin O Keeffe who took the win.
The U13 Girls final saw Roisin O Keeffe of Kilfane become the U13 Girls Champion with a defeat over Chloe Philpott on a scoreline of 15-3 15-3 after a game of great handball. Well done to all girls who took part, many who were young 11 and 12 year olds, who will no doubt be names for the future in ladies handball and make a return to Liscarroll next year!
Boys U13
Close contests all round was the order of the day in the U13 Boys grade In the first SF, Kyle Dunne (Kilkenny) fell to Billy Drennan (Kilkenny) in an agonising tiebreak defeat 7-5 after a terrific performance by both players.
The second semi final saw Seanie Doyle (Clare) bow out to Jack Doyle (Kilkenny) making it an all Kilkenny Boys U13 final.
In an exciting final and end to the Liscarroll Munster Open, it was the young and talented Billy Drennan who took the honours on the day as he dftd Jack Doyle on a scoreline of 15-8 15-3.
Spectators can only say that the competition was of excellent standard all week, highly entertaining and sporting whereby players, mentors, parents, Tim Healy and all in the Liscarrol Handball Club are to be commended for what is now part of the tradition of Christmas for Cork Handball.
Girls U15:
The first SF of the day was a Galway v Clare encounter as Niamh Heffernan and Bridin Dinan battled it out. In the end it was Bridin who booked her place in the final 15-6 15-13.
The second girls semi final was a Limerick v Kildare battle, which led to a tie break finish where Leah Doyle narrowly dft Catriona Millane on a scoreline of 4-15 15-1 7-3.
The girls U15 final saw Bridin Dinan defeat Leah Doyle 15-6 2-15 7-3 after super performances by both girls with quality serving evident all tournament.
Boys U15:
The second SF of the day was a Cork v Tipp affair, where Sean McAdams saw off Conor Walsh as the Tipp lad sealed his place in the final 15-5, 15-7.
Next up was an all Clare contest, Tiarnan Agnew v Mark Rodgers, the two talented Clare lads gave fine displays but Rodgers could not overcome the powerful Agnew with a 15-7 15-8 defeat but again Rodgers is underage next year and will be back in the grade .
Boys U15 final saw Tiarnan Agnew face Sean McAdams in which Agnew defended his title after a tough battle with the talented Tipperary man on a scoreline of 15-8 15-1.
