It is with deep sadness that GAA Handball has learned of the passing of John Smith father of Joel Smith current Leitrim Handball secretary.
John has been a name synonymous with the sport of GAA Handball in Ulster and in particular Tyrone for many decades and played a major contribution to the administration of the sport since the 1960s.
John was one of the founding members of Omagh Handball Club and of Loughmacrory GAA Handball Club Committee in 1967, John also played a prominent role on the Tyrone County GAA Handball Committee, in almost all key executive positions, over a period of five decades. John also served as Ulster Handball secretary.
GAA Handball would like to pass on our sincere condolences at this time to John's family on this sad occasion.
John's funeral will take place on Tuesday 15th December at 2pm in St. Mary's Church, Killyclogher.
