GAA Handball 60x30 Interclub Championships 2017

This year's 60x30 Interclub Championships takes place in midlands venues this weekend with Mullingar being the venue chosen for the premier 60x30 club competition. In the Open competition Kells (Meath) must start as hot favourites but Williamstown (Galway) and Hospital (Limerick) will have their own say. The action gets under way tomorrow Saturday 17th June at 11am at the Westmeath venue.

Kells, Williamstown and Hospital are very strong 60x30 clubs with many success over the years, by Saturday evening one of these great clubs will add another interclub title to their collection. Kells are reigning champions and are going for SIX in a row and can call on the vast experience of doubles pairing Tom Sheridan and Brian Carroll as well as Gary McConnell, Michael Sheridan and Robert Fox for the clash. Williamstown have no shortage of experience either as part of their team with Ollie Conway, Alan Tierney, Declan Connaughton, Kevin Cradock and Pat Conway. Hospital have also an array of very experience 60x30 players namely Paul Hedderman, Paudi Quish, Eamon Davern, J.P. O’Connor and Mike O’Toole. Will the Leinster home court advantage sway it for the Meath men or will the men from the west or south bring the title home on Saturday afternoon. Only time will tell for this titanic tussle of these three heavyweights in 60x30 club Handball.

In the Junior competition the action gets underway at 11am with Broadford (Limerick) playing St. Patrick’s (Cavan) in the first semi-final followed by Moycullen (Galway) against the home side Crinkle (Offaly). The final is down for decision at 5pm in this central venue. This is going to be a tight battle with all four clubs fancying their chance of success.

Finally in the Junior B competition Ballymore Eustace (Kildare) are through to the final as they received a bye from Loughrea (Galway), while Friary/Abbeyside (Waterford) faces Kingscourt (Cavan) in the second semi-final in Fahys Cross at 11am on Saturday. The final is down for decision at 2pm in the Offaly venue.

A great day of 60x30 Handball is in store at these central venues as the Softball season starts in earnest with the first finals of the year. It promises to be a cracking Interclub series, so show your support for all your club teams that are in action this weekend.
