Crunch Time in Softball Doubles Championship

After a two week break the attention turns back to the 2017 MyClubShop.ie Softball Senior Doubles Championship, with both Men's SF & the Ladies Final set for Croke Park from 2pm on Saturday.

Opening the bill is an enticing affair where the reigning champions Brian Carroll & Tom Sheridan (Meath) aim to hold off the challenge of talented young duo CJ Fitzpatrick & Seamus O'Carroll (Limerick). The Kells men comfortably defeated Tipperary's Ger Coonan & David Hickey in the QF, whilst the Limerick lads had the most eyecatching win of the QF's when comprehensively defeating Roscommon's Damian Martin & Rikki O'Gara.

Next up is the Ladies Final where both pairing are tasting their first outing in this years Doubles Championship. Cork's Catriona casey & Aishling O'Keeffe will rightly start as strong favourites to retain their title against Kilkenny's Ciara Mahon & Aoife Holden.

The final match of the day sees Eoin Kennedy & Carl Browne (Dublin) bid to defeat the vastly experienced doubles pairing of Joe McCann & Dessie Keegan (Mayo) to reach their 3rd consecutive final. The Dubs scraped through a 21-15 tiebreak against Wexford's Gavin Buggy & Daniel Kavanagh at the QF's, whilst the Ballaghaderreen men also had a tough two game battle against Kilkenny's Ciaran Neary & Nicholas Anthony.
