GAA Handball's Clar 2016 has now been released, and can be viewed at the below link.
Following a great deal of research there are some exciting changes to this years Clar, notably being the introduction of an All-Ireland 40x20 Finals Festival Weekend for all Adult Singles & Juvenile Finals (18th - 20th March), & all Adult Doubles Finals (22nd & 23rd April).
The first festival weekend includes the Mens & Ladies Senior Singles Finals on the Saturday afternoon, with all the other Adult Singles Finals grades fixed for the Friday evening or Saturday morning in Kingscourt & adjoining/nearby courts as required. Sunday will be the turn of the Juveniles to take centre stage with all Juvenile Finals taking place that day in what promises to be a wonderful weekend of handball for everyone to come along and be involved in either as a player or a spectator.
This is followed with a similar Doubles weekend one month later, which will include the Mens & Ladies Senior Doubles Finals on the Saturday afternoon, with all the other Adult Doubles Finals grades will be fixed for the Friday evening or Saturday morning in adjoining/nearby courts subject to requirements.
Key changes/dates to this years Clar:
- The ICHA 3rd Level SIngles Championship has been brought forward from it's traditional first weekend slot in February, to the last weekend in January
- The GAA Handball National Congress will take place on Sunday 7th February at Croke Park
- The National Cumann na mBunscoil Day will take place on Saturday February 20th, with both Boys (10am start) & Girls (2pm start) taking place on the same day
- All 40x20 All-Ireland Adult Singles Finals will take place over one large Festival Weekend in Kingscourt & surrounding venues on Friday 18th - Sunday 20th March
- All 40x20 All-Ireland Adult Doubles Finals will take place over one large Festival Weekend in venues TBC on Friday 22nd & Saturday 23rd April
- The Adult 40x20 Nationals Finals Weekend will take place on Saturday April 30th & Sunday May 1st
- A 60x30 Nationals will take place on Saturday 23rd & 24th July
- The Ladies 60x30 Senior SIngles Final will now take place alongside the Mens Senior SIngles Final on Saturday September 10th
All clubs/counties are reminded that if they wish to run National Club Tournaments in 2016, you are asked to complete the attached application form and submit it for approval to National CCCC for next year.
