Meath pair Brian Carroll & Tom Sheridan reasserted their dominance of their Softball Doubles crown with a comprehensive win over Limericks highly rated young duo CJ Fitzpatrick & Seamus O'Carroll in today's SF at Croke Park.
Having raced into a 5-1 lead, the Royals always held a few point advantage, the closest Limerick getting was 10-6. Then came the surge that took Meath into a rapid 15-6 lead which they never looked back from, eventually winning 21-7.
Limerick needed a fast start in the second game but they weren't allowed it as Meath went 7-3 up before a similar pattern to the first game emerged when they turned the screw midway through the game to go 17-4 up a devastatingly effective run of play.
A mini surge saw the Munster men get back to 17-9 before Meath closed out the game 21-10. In the end the experience of the champs shown evidently as they disposed the young pretenders.
