Big names survive QF frights

After a weekend of QF action in the 2017 MyClubShop.ie Softball Doubles Championship we are now down to the Last 4 on Saturday 23rd September in Croke Park.

Top seeds Brian Carroll & Tom Sheridan were comfortable winners against Tipperary duo Ger Coonan & David Hickey, coming through in two straight games. They now meet Limerick's CJ Fitzpatrick & Seamus O'Carroll who were quite impressive winners over Roscommon's Damian Martin & Rikki O'Gara 21-12, 21-6.

In the bottom half the two higher seeds survived severe tests. Mayo's Joe McCann & Dessie Keegan were pushed all the way before coming through 21-18, 21-19 against Kilkenny's Ciaran Neary & Nicholas Anthony. Whilst the match of the weekend nearly saw Wexford's Gavin Buggy & Daniel Kavanagh come within 6 points of defeating the 2015 champions Eoin Kennedy & Carl Browne, falling 21-15 in the third.
